Yes. This is particularly true of some religions that say that after we die, we are reincarnated as plants or animals. Many of these religions consider a plant’s soul to spend its entire life in a state similar to deep sleep. When we are in a deep sleep, we are unaware of our surroundings and do not even dream. For that reason, many people who believe plants have souls have no difficulty accepting that plants are unable to feel pain or a desire to live.
